The year is 1953 and Robert Womack, a Texas native and WWII veteran, has an idea. After serving in the United States Air Force building barracks in Germany, Womack returned home and kept his builder’s mind alive. He spent years creating custom parts for Texas businesses, and he was ready to turn his business into a large-scale company that inspired new ideas, top-of-the-line talent and innovation. It’s on this idea that he forms Womack Machine Supply. Now, 70 years later, we’re celebrating our anniversary with a look at the past and a vision for the future.
Originally established to provide Texas-based customers with individualized products to meet their manufacturing needs, Womack expanded quickly beyond the Lone Star State, rapidly becoming one of the top suppliers in the hydraulics, pneumatics and later the automation industry. After making our first expansion out of Dallas in 1958 with a storefront in Houston, Womack extended services into neighboring states including Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama and Utah. We now serve as product suppliers in 18 states with six sales, service and repair centers across the country.
Beyond regional development, Womack has evolved industry knowledge for professionals across the board. In 1964, Womack launched the first of our now-expansive line of textbooks. Womack is dedicated to the idea that “an educated customer is a smart customer,” one able to make informed decisions about their company’s products and services to do more than they ever thought possible. Womack textbooks were followed in later decades by our Hands-on-Training (HOT) Program, an expert-led, immersive training experience designed to empower the next generation of professionals in the industry. Our team has worked for 70 years to deliver to our customers superior application know-how built on our seven decades of knowledge.
In 2023, Womack is no less committed to expanding the power of motion. If we see a need in the industry, we fill it. When we saw a need for a value-add service partner, we created one.
